Lifeline Youth Empowerment Center (LYEC) is a gay, bisexual, and queer (GBQ)-led organisation in Uganda committed to advancing the safety, health, and dignity of gay, bisexual, and queer men. Operating in a context where same-sex relations are criminalised and stigma is pervasive, LYEC provides community-based support, protection services, and advocacy tailored to the lived realities of GBQ men.
The organisation creates safe spaces for peer connection, delivers HIV prevention and sexual health services, responds to intimate partner violence, and documents human rights violations affecting GBQ communities. Through initiatives such as community dialogues, digital health access platforms, and grassroots research, LYEC works to ensure that gay, bisexual, and queer men are not erased from policy, data, or services.
Grounded in lived experience and community leadership, LYEC stands for dignity, resilience, and the right of gay, bisexual, and queer men in Uganda to exist, thrive, and lead.
